Ekdahl Nelson Real Estate of Stamford, Texas is among the top 100 companies from around the world selected for the 17th annual Aggie 100 which honors the fastest-growing companies owned by former students of Texas A&M University. Ekdahl Nelson Real Estate was recognized as number 17 with a compound annual growth rate of 73.914%. The Aggie 100 is founded and sponsored by the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University.

Ekdahl Nelson Real Estate is a full-service real estate brokerage firm specializing in farm and ranch, recreational, residential, and commercial properties. Ed Ekdahl founded the company in 1980 while still farming in Jones County, and eventually opened an office on the downtown square of Stamford and it became his primary career. His son, John Ekdahl, graduated from Texas A&M University in 1995 with a degree in finance and started his real estate career as an agent with Ekdahl Nelson in 1996. Over the years, John worked with his father to grow the business and obtained his broker license.

When Ed decided to retire in 2007, John took over as the owner. In 2019, John and longtime West Texas real estate professional A.E. “Butch” Nelson decided to merge Ekdahl Real Estate and Nelson Farm & Ranch Properties headquartered in Abilene, Texas. Ekdahl Nelson Real Estate now serves an even greater portion of West Texas with offices in Abilene, Anson, Aspermont, Stamford and Rotan.

“Being named to the Aggie 100 list for a second year makes me really proud,” said John. “It was such an accomplishment the first time, but to be named again with an even higher growth rate makes me proud of what we are building at Ekdahl Nelson.”

The 100 Aggie-owned companies with the highest compound annual revenue growth from 2018 to 2020 were recognized at a formal celebration at the Hall of Champions at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. The honorees were joined in celebration by family, friends, employees, faculty, administrators, current students, and fellow entrepreneurs.

“As we mark our 17th Annual Celebration of the Aggie 100TM program, we applaud the ingenuity, determination, and success of Aggie Entrepreneurs across the globe by raising up our newest class of Aggie 100TM honorees. Despite the tremendous challenges that all businesses have faced in the recent past (and present), the astounding levels of growth and prosperity exhibited by each member company in the Class of 2021 demands our respect, our recognition, and our privilege of welcoming them as the newest additions to our Aggie 100TM family” said Blake Petty, Executive Director of the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship.
