Location: The Elk Canyon Ranch is about 75 miles Northwest of Abilene, 210 miles West of Fort Worth, 170 miles Northeast of Midland, or 125 miles East of Lubbock.

Acreage: 1300± acres, all in mesquite and cedar pasture.

Topography: The topography varies greatly on the ranch. You’ve got nice long draws in the lower-lying areas and huge mesas over 100′ tall. There are great mesquite flats in both the lower-lying areas, as well as on the higher elevations.

Rainfall/Elevation: According to the Texas Almanac, the annual rainfall in Stonewall County is 22.36″ and the average growing season is 220 days. Elevations on the ranch range from 1700′ up to 1820′.

Cover: The ranch is all in native mesquite and cedar pasture. You’ll also find hackberry, western soapberry, and willows near the stock tanks and natural spring. Browse plants are plentiful and include Little Leaf Sumac, Skunkbush, Ephedra, Wolfberry, Algerita, Elbow Bush and a few wild plums.

Fences: Fences are five-strand barbed wire on metal and cedar posts and are in good condition.

Utilities: Utilities are in place and supplied by South Plains Electric Cooperative.

Water: There are three earthen stock tanks and a spring in one of the draws that creates pools of water. The barndo has a 3000-gallon tank and water is brought in from town.

Hunting: This area is fast becoming a popular spot due to the large herd of free-ranging elk and red deer. Monster whitetail also make this area home. Other wildlife includes feral hogs, aoudad, Rio Grande turkey, bobwhite, and blue quail, and several different species of predatory animals. The varying topography of this ranch provides plenty of cover and sanctuary for game. The owners have also planted food plots in several different locations on the ranch to help draw in more game.

Residence and Improvements: The barndo has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also has an overhang to park vehicles out of the weather, or bbq outside on those rainy days. The combination kitchen and living area makes for a great place to hang out between hunts.

Minerals: Surface estate only.

Price: The property is priced at $ 2,500.00 per acre for a total price of $3,250,000.00
